My Maple Leafs socks are completed.
The few strands of yarn are what I had left over. Gasp, gasp, I did make it. Barely. Granted the toe has a slightly tighter tension than the rest of the sock. Make that tighter than you can believe, as tight as 'how in the world can I get this stitch off the needle' tight, tight. But the yarn held out.
Pattern available in MenKnit Issue #2 and in the Yahoo group, Maple Leafs Socks Knitalong.
I used 2.75 mm needles and my dye-o-rama pal, jickymcjickster's hand dyed yarn. They are a bit big (around, not in length!!), even for hubby's monsters, but I think they'll be great for me this winter over another pair of socks. Very snuggly.
I've been reading about everyone's enthusiasm for the new Sock Wars. It sounds like such a cool thing to do, but I am soooo slow. And fall, with school, is just too busy a time for me. Instead I'll watch and enjoy reading about other's experiences.
I think our humidity has finally ended. At least there's a breeze today, the yarns are drying, and I can even think about dyeing again without melting.
Dear baby brother and his partner have been here from Ottawa for the week. There have been many swims at the lake and lots of family meals and visiting. Ah, summer. And the long weekend is ahead. More swims, summer bbq's, and warm weather. Bliss.

Glad the sock yarn held out; I've been at the same place many times with less luck! The socks are grand!

I adore the maple leaves on those socks! And not a yard to spare...don't you love it when a plan comes together?
