We managed. I managed. We had our first Christmas without my father. There were lots of tears, stories of dad, and memories shared. Dad was a 'Christmas person'. He loved everything about Christmas - the decorating, the shopping for those unique presents, the special foods, and times with family. He made sure it was a very special time for us as children and as adults. He is missed.
Boxing Day was Dad's birthday. We always moaned about how he never got to celebrate it properly because it was so close to Christmas. Three years ago we had a huge party for his 80th birthday. That is a very good memory.
Two milestone days, back to back. It was tough. Things were made a little easier for me because I was so busy. We had 16 people for Christmas Day brunch and then my brother and his partner arrived later in the day.
More presents.
Mom loves presents. She cannot open them fast enough!
I received a wonderful 'fibery' present. More on that in my next post - once I've had time to play with it!

Merry Christmas. I bet it was tough. Thinking of you and all the best in 2013

Glad you are able to share your story with us. It's very hard losing a "pillar" of your family.
Jack and I both lost a parent this year so we certainly are able to relate.
Your Dad was a wonderful soul. You were very blessed to have him with you so many years.
Holiday Hugs from our home to yours, :D

I thought of you this Christmas... Those firsts are hard to get through..isn't it wonderful though that we have such wonderful memories! I think we were both truly blessed. Take care of yourself and each other. ((Hugs))

It is hard to be brave and also celebrate the good times.
